O/S Daily Sunday 4 December 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now getting light, still mild.

DH in the bath, I'm enjoying first peaceful cuppas whilst browsing on here. No movement from the boys rooms as yet. I'll be getting a shower shortly.

Dinner last night was takeaway pizza and chips, DS1 went out and fetched them from a place that's near one of his friends and they use it regularly - very nice it was too. I had menu planned but the menfolk didn't want what I'd organised, so they had a snack at lunchtime, then had pizzas instead of the duck in red wine sauce, so we'll be having that for lunch as a change to roast, and the joint of pork has stayed in the freezer, and will be next Sundays' lunch. DH worked yesterday morning, so we had the pizza as a treat.

Today we're going to visit the outlaws and my parents, and call in at MrT - today is the last day of the 25% off 6 x bottles of wine (there's other alcohol included in this too but can't remember what it is). I'll be putting this aside ready for Xmas and 1 bottle will be part of a gift for my bestie.

I'll be organising the pack ups whilst the lunch is cooking - recipe i've never cooked before so will see how it turns out! I'm going to serve mash, carrots, broc and peas with it, I also have an apple strudel in the freezer so can cook that if needed, custard will go with that.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks. Oh I don't like when it's a double posting of the new daily as I never know which to join! Thanks both NMLC and GERS. I have plumped for the top one!

I can;t summon up any festive enthusiasm at all this year with all the health problems hanging over us. I know worrying and dwelling on it won't help but it's the way I am and always have been.

I forced myself into writing all the cards yesterday afternoon even though my heart wasn't in it. I counted up the out of town ones that can't be delivered by hand and need 27 stamps plus 2 for Oz. The stamps cost more than the blooming cards, crazy innit!

The DesignaFriend doll that youngest DGD wants was finally picked up yesterday. Other friends and relatives are buying outfits, accessories etc for it. Middle DGD is getting one too from other Gran but I have bought her the VTech Popstar microphone thing that was also on her Santa list. I think its The MUST HAVE present this year as it was out of stock everywhere for long enough before Argos got it back in.

I didn't get the promised reorganisation of the freezers done yesterday so that's back on the agenda for this afternoon. It's so flipping cold in the garage though so I need to brace myself.

Lunch for Mr TA is another of the little Aldi lamb joints with garlic and herb butter. There should be enough left for tomorrow as I don;t eat it. He is developing an addiction for them and pops one in the trolley every week. I'll be having the usual chicken instead. Lots of veg to prep too.

Have a good day if you can and (((HUGS))) as always to LAINEY, COXY, LWW and HILSTEP. CSARINA I think you need one too. Take care all whatever you are up to xx

  • Morning (((((((((( hugs)))))))))) if you need one, bright sunny morning, we are still in the pit, will be getting up shortly, I want to go to the fabric warehouse, see if I can get fabric for the baby quilt.

Still feeling a bit shocked after the letter from the hospital, I know we are all born to die, some of us die before others, graphic shocks like that make you concentrate on your own mortality!!

Right will drink my coffee, get in the shower and face the day.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's dry but very cold and windy here today. It's my DD14's birthday today and she has just spent a pleasant few minutes opening her presents and cards. She is very geeky so loved all her Anime dvds and clothes. I think her favourite present was from her godmother who gave her a tardis mug, some hot chocolate powder and a pack of chocolate covered marshmallows. I hear the microwave being put into use as I write :D:D.

My parents in law managed to come and see us yesterday which was fantastic. We haven't seen them for over 2 years due to various medical problems. They have left for their 3 hour drive home now. Hopefully we shall see them again before too long.

Hubby is cooking today so we are having gammon steak, egg and chips with a piece of birthday cake for afters. I have to tidy up our bedroom and rearrange some of the furniture. I will ask one of the girls to give me a hand.

Sending out hugs and well wishes to all who would like one. Csarina, I remember this is a hard time of year for you anyway without all this worry about your heart xxx

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
