This was around the 18.00 or 19.00 mark recently.

200 multicoloured multifunction string lights - product id 541/7605

Battery operated but should be able to insert a mains adaptor lying around.

Now, just £4.99 today. Go grab one.

Official MoneySavingExpert insert Tue 6 Dec: The £4.99 string light set is reduced from £19.99 at Argos, the next cheapest we found for a similar 200 LED multifunction set of multicoloured string lights is £9.29 from Amazon, plus P&P if your total order is less than £20. As the Argos set has six light modes (the Amazon set only has four) and can be used either indoors or outdoors (with the battery box protected from the rain), it should brighten up your Christmas without blowing a fuse in your wallet.

If you're not looking for lights, other Christmas decorations have also been discounted.

Big thanks to aspiration for the original spot!

The ones we collected today are battery operated, can't figure out if you have to do something special for the timer? We'll find out in the morning if they've gone off tonight!?!!!
It's 20m of lights in total. Really pleased with them.
    Thanks for posting!

Timer works from when you first switch them on for 8 hours on 16 hours off. So just switch then on once and it will do it all itself until you take them down :)
  • Thanks for posting. Just what I was looking for.

The battery box of this item is sealed, hence ideal for outside use.
It uses 3 AA batteries giving 4.5V.

For inside use, get hold of an adaptor that can give 5V at 1A. Even 6V adaptors should work.

Cut the long wire of the adaptor at the small DC conector end. Do not do anything to the mains side. Strip the two DC wire ends (about 10mm) to the copper. You need to identify the positive wire from the negative if possible. You also need to identify positive and negative end of the battery box when the 3 batteries are likely to be connected in series. Now connect the +wire to the postive of the battery box. Negative wire to the negative end. Soldering is better than twisting the wire to the battery connector. Always remove batteries.

Because these are LEDs (diodes), there is no harm on the first try if the wires are reversed. Make sure these wires never touch each other. When working on it ensure it is not plugged in.

If you are not sure please ask someone with electrical knowledge.
