I Need a few Cheap Cellophane Bags

Hi there,

Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the brilliant Christmas pressie ideas :A I love the sound of Reindeer Poo, Pots of Gold & Snowman Soup. I thought if I could get some cheap cellophane bags and some curling ribbon I could make them up and stick gold stars or snowflakes etc. on the outside of the bags. Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy the bags please?

  • Ebay is pretty good :) I bought 100 cellophane squares for 99p plus £1.75 postage and am going to put homemade fudge in them and tie with ribbon :)

  • Off topic - moneysavingmumofone - are you taking over this board or what?! Lol. Good to see ya.
  • Ebay is definitely a good idea but the only problem i found with using flat cellophane as it were (and I acknowledge that is likely due to clumsiness on my part) is that it was quite difficult to manipulate to a good shape, ie to hold reindeer food without it falling out the sides. I did manage to rip it quite a lot as well (not covering myself in glory here I realise).

So I resorted to the bags that are in the craft section that people use to put their home made cards in, then I only had to ribbon up the top. They sell them in all sorts of quantities so you can usually shop around for some good bargains.

I have A5 and A6 sizes for putting my home made cards in, the large ones would be fine for it. I would offer to sell some on eBay for you but I have to say 100 for £2.74 (the offer explained above) is good value!

  • look around your local pound shops in next few months. Last year I bought a pack of 50 cellophane bags there already decorated with half white snowflake pattern and half xmas tree pattern.£1 for the pack. We used them for fudge and ginger cookies at the sheltered housing where i work and they were very effective - they were about 8 inches by 4 inches in size. I am looking out for them again now.:D
