Promotion with Relocation. Mortgage advice Please.

I was recently given a promotion however it required me to relocate from the office in northwest England to the office in the south.
It was a no brainier to accept the offer, even taking into account the difference in cost of living etc.
Currently we have a property in the north to sell, my husband still has a permanent job there and I am living in temporary accommodation near the new office.
Based on our current wages and deposit we have a healthy budget for a new property and my company will be paying relocation costs, legal fees, stamp duty etc.
My husband would like to use this as an opportunity to start contracting.
I have spoken to a mortgage advisor who basically said he can't help us until my husband has a permanent job offer or has been in a contract for at least a month. Which I understand, however I need to start the ball rolling as I will miss out the relocation benefits, so my first question is are there any lenders who will consider our current situation?
My second question is that I have read that Halifax is one of the best lenders for contractors even those that are new to contracting, as we bank and have our current mortgage with them would it hurt future chances to speak to them now about our situation.
Thank you for your time
P.s. I know it makes no difference but my husbands skills are highly desirable so he should have no problems getting contract role.

Moving to a Contracting role is one thing. Saying that is your intention is another.
You can possibly get lending based on your husband commuting each week. Or starting a contract that he has in his hands. But not on a thought.I am a Mortgage Broker
