Hope that your work will rescind your notice. I have seen some managers refuse to rescind a resignation as it has shown you are not happy at the current company and looking elsewhere. I'm not saying that's right but it does happen.

Exactly, that is the bigger danger.

if the current employer just said yes to your resignation that's not a good indicator that they care what you do.

Did they even ask why are you leaving?

Rather than things getting better they could get worse if you stay, like no pay rise.
  • They seemed genuinely disappointed when I handed in my notice and asked at the time if I could give them 24 hours to consider what they could do to change my mind. However the new employer was waiting on me handing in my notice so they could contact my current employer. My boss said she was already aware of the problems I cited as my reason to want to leave (and had started to address these whilst I was on holiday the previous week) - but I felt it was too late by then as already accepted the new job. I know there's no guarantee that things will change but they are at least aware of the problem. I have been surprised by how many people genuinely seem sad to hear I'm leaving - I didn't realise how valued/liked I was by the rest of the team.

Why the big pay differential, are you underpaid where you are.

They have had a week what did they come back with?
what evidence is there they had started addressing the issues

how did the new company know about you?

Are you genuinely having second thoughts or is it just cold feet. I read somewhere that moving jobs is the third most stressful decision in life after marriage and divorce.

Only you can decide. I understand how difficult it is. I withdrew my acceptance because of cold feet.
