DFS - wait until after Christmas??

Does anyone have any experience with DFS sales around Christmas? We've had our eye on a sofa for several months waiting for the price to drop and as of yesterday the sofa we liked has dropped £150. Although we don't need this sofa until March...does anyone know if it's likely for the sofa to drop in price for the Boxing Day sales?

    does anyone know ...

    Yes, and no.

Does DFS ever not have a sale on?

From previous experience the sale price will be much the same, however the RRP may have doubled, so instead of having the sofa priced at £800 with with 50% off, it's changed to £1600 with 75% off. You may be lucky and find it discounted somewhere (a store in the Scottish Highlands, or somewhere equally remote), or it may be discontinued as new stock is brought in.

Personally if I had my mind set on a particular model I'd go in and haggle for a discount now. Take up their stain protection offer, they may give you a bigger discount on the sofa, and you can cancel the insurance as soon as you get home. (check T&Cs on their website)

If you watch their offers they churn ranges , a range goes " on sale " and is reduced whilst previous sale items although technically on sale still are "full price" , suspect it's both for pricing a discount and for allowing them to concentrate production on a small finite range of items to maximise savings of production costs

If you are happy with the price today and feel it is worth the money, buy it. Especially if you'd regret not getting a sofa that they then stop making next week.
