Suddenly, Erudio...

Hi all,

I became debt-free this year and was completely delighted. Unfortunately, this has reared it's big ol' ugly head.

I had 2 Student Loans in 1999 and 2000, which I genuinely thought I'd been deferring.

Now I get a letter off Erudio (not SLC!) saying that my loans have "matured" and they want them all back now.

Who are this Erudio? Are they a DCA and if so can I wallop them with a CCA request/statute barred letter or whatever?

Reaaaallllyy confused. Please help.

  • Looks like These people - so appears that they have taken over the loans from SLC, rather than being a DCA.

Do you have the paperwork confirming deferment? Are your earnings still below the threshold for paying back?

    Hi,

Erudio are one of the debt collectors that took over the old style student loans. The old style student loans were loans before September 1998, so if you started your course before 1998 then you may have remained on the old style loan for the rest of your course.

The key issue will be, when did you last defer it? If more than 6 years has passed since you were last due to file a deferment and there have been no payments, written acknowledgement of the debt or a CCJ in that time, the debt would be statute barred and you can send the standard letter about this.

According to there website they are "part of the Arrow global group".

That should tell you all you need to know about Erudio.

Eruido are parasites. No other word for it. They delay approving deferment and then try to tell you that you have a missed payment which will stop you being able write off the loan. They penalise you if you have a couple of weeks overtime even if your annual income is under the threshold.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
