Long story short - Microsoft Azure hosting went wrong somewhere and my account ended up accruing ~750 quid worth of debt. Neither myself or them can clearly state why this has happened (an expensive premium service was added to my account that I didn't sign up for, they let it run four months before disabling the service charging me increasing amounts month on month for this time).
So where am I now? After a long debate the chap I'm talking with ended his second to last email with: "I would have been able to waive of the charges as goodwill, but unfortunately as it is gone to the Collections I do not have that option. However since you have cancelled the subscriptions I can still contact the Business management team and get this write off charge credited, so that it won’t affect you in any way."
I asked for a bit of clarification on this and he replied with: "If the outstanding was not moved to collections I would have waived off from my end, however when I meant write off charge" being credited, it means that the charge of 745.21 GBP gone to collections “for a one-time courtesy the written off charges will credited”. This is no longer shown on your account and it would be wiped.".
I'm still not entirely sure what a "write-off charge" is but what position am I in now? The way I see it, the amount has been bought by a collection agency (who haven't contacted me yet) so they can't write this off - but they're proposing to credit my account with this amount so I can pay the collection agency? Is that right? What do I do when the collection agency contact me, tell them to sod off until I've been credited?
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
No you misunderstand.
The collections dept will be a seperate enterty, but still a part of the same company, it has not been sold.
He is attempting to get management permission to recall it from collections, and write off the debt, to put you back to the position you would of been in should this not of happened.

They're being cheeky though - it's their mistake that these charges were raised, yes? Therefore it's not a "one time courtesy" at all - it's correcting something they got wrong. In my opinion they should be offering you an unreserved apology and some compensation.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
