Wouldn't you have to renew the insurance annually? Every insurance that I've ever dealt with has to be renewed each year, and this includes insurance policies for a community centre and nursery. A renewal notice with the annual cost is sent around a month before the existing policy expires. It sounds as though you didn't renew the policy each year.
Can the insurance company confirm when a valid policy was last held?0 -
No it was a new insurance for a new starter unfortunately0

But is it an annual policy?
If so not renewing / investigating why there had been no renewal would deflect some of the heat away from you0 -
