15 year old asking for Call of Duty - Infinite warfare?

A bit of advice for my sister, her son is asking for COD for Christmas, apparently all his friends are getting it! Having never played these games I have no idea apart from reading online which doesn't really go into detail, he keeps telling me they only play multiplayer with his friends, don't know if this makes any difference.

  • It is a shooter, but it really isn't as bad as some games out there. Don't let him be that one kid whose parents wouldn't let him have the latest games out of all his mates.

How often do you hear the phrase 'all of my friends are getting/have got one'...?!

Get him to explain to his mum what the game entails/why he is old enough/sensible enough etc for her to buy him the game for Christmas.

I bought it for my 17 year old son a couple of weeks back, and he has been playing the COD range for the past 6 or so years since he was 10. Its age rated as it is a war/shooting game thats all. You get to play a story mode on your own 'carrying out missions' or go online, which involves two teams pitched against each other, running around an area trying to shoot each other, first team to a set number number of kills is the winner.

Pacman and space invaders should of been age rated in todays pink and fluffy world, as you had to eat ghosts and shoot aliens!!!

Is your child mature at 15, or immature at 15? It is an adult game, and the online mode can have some pretty nasty language (not just swearing but some pretty horrible personal remarks, youtube call of duty online and there will be thousands of vids) but you get that with every online game.

My now 17 year old brother in law has played since 11, but he was always emotionally mature for his age.

If the OPS sisters son joins as a group I think they wouldn't hear any voices from outside of the group.
