Out of Date Tins of Food
Is it ok/safe to eat tinned food that is two years out of date? I thought tins didn't go off but they have dates on them.
Trying to save money and don't want to throw them out.
Thanks

The following is going to be as reliable as you will get from an official source. It's very exhaustive. Hope it helps.

Would quite happily eat these.
As the article above says - just watch out for rusted / dented tins , and you are happy they have been stored okay in your cupboard since purchase0 -

They are only best before and not use by.

I've eaten tinned food more than 2 years out of date, there are always tins lurking in the back of the kitchen cupboard that I forgot were there0

I wouldn't risk it with tinned salmon. And beware of anything acidic (tinned tomatoes or citrus fruit, for example) in case the inner lining has been compromised.0

what have you to lose open it up smell it ,taste a bit if it seems OK then it probably is You will soon know if its not right in colour taste or texture.I would probably baulk at tinned fish salmon etc but most stuff is fine0

Yes but not so good for the squirrels hamsters and other furry little rodents that gave their lives to make the sausages :cool:0 -

Personally, I wouldn't chance it with beans. The tomato sauce is quite acidic. I've (experimentally) opened quite old cans of beans and found what looked like damage to the lining of the can.
Still, each to their own!0
