Good morning everyone,
I had a nice weekend in which I managed to get lots done while also seeing friends and family.
Spent quite a bit in taking advantage of Black Friday but I recon most of the shopping is done now. Few bits and bobs but nothing major.
I nipped to Tesco on Saturday night and when I went home to buy a few more pressies online, I realised that I left my card in the machine!!! I didn't want to risk it so I phoned First Direct and cancelled it. Kicking myself.
Tonight I've to nip to Currys and get my new phone thank goodness. Mine is well past it's best and is very temperamental. New contract is £3 more expensive but it is for a much better contract and newer phone too so I can live with that.
Afterwards I've got badminton as usual and then I'll catch up on some TV tonight I recon.
nmlc - Glad you enjoyed your break
dumpling - hope you feel better soon.

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Another bad night with OH coughing, to compound matters I started sneezing and now have a runny nose, brilliant just what I need on top of everything else.
Several people have recommended a cough medicine so as he has gone for a blood test I have told him to get some from the chemist, I need some sleep!!
Its a bright morning, looks cold out there, not been out yet. Wet room and toilet to do, will see how I feel whether or not I tackle our bedroom.
No idea whats for supper tonight, think it will be something with jacket spuds and salad.
I need to replace my phone, it has not come to light so when I am in town I need to go into the phone shop and see what they have got, only want a basic, nothing fancy, its just to keep in touch with OH when I am out. I am a bit miffed there was money left on the card, not sure how much.0 -
Morning all,
Day off for me today which is a good job as I am absolutely full of cold and my ears and face acheI think its gone into my sinuses, a day in the warm might help.
Its my darling DD's Birthday today I cant believe she is 22, she has a driving lesson later and will save her presents for when OH gets back tonight we will also have a takeaway of her choice as is the tradition.
Just heard that my mum had to have her dog pts this morning, she was a lovely old girl and my little dogs sister, she was 15 and on Wednesday was still bounding like a puppy, RIP Sparky xx
Have good days all and hugs where needed xxx0 -
Morning everyone, thanks for the thread nmlc, glad you enjoyed your break away.
Late one from me today, I had such a rubbish nights sleep that after I sorted the girls out at 7am went back to bed for another hour. Sorry to read you were the same Dumpling x
Few chores this morning and then off to see Fantastic Beasts with beloved, love an afternoon showing as normally quite quiet. The rest of my week is already booked up so a bit of time just for the two of us will be fab.
I did make a start on the present buying yesterday, a list is made and a few things already ticked off, my tolerance for trawling round shops is tiny so will get all I can online.
Hope all the kitchen arrangements go to plan Camelot.
Hugs to Coxy and thoughts are with HIllstep as always.
Rruby, hope you feel better soon and RIP Sparky x
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x0 -
Good morning,
DH brought me breakfast in bed, his usual wonder-porridge with fruits nuts and maple syrup, the sweetheart! He has gone off to his art class.
I don't understand, this is supposed to be a fun thing to do, but he gets into a complete tizz about not having his prints ready, not doing it right...I told him it's not compulsory, it's meant to be pleasurable, a hobby not a competition, he just shrugs. Men....I am so glad I didn't join it, DD and DH had asked me to, but I prefer they have their own arty space together, without un-arty mum there sniggering at their pretentious talks! DH is an architect, DD an arts graduate and me a total ignoramus LOL so when they go on about conceptual art and highfalutin blabber I roll my eyes and snort! Better I stick to my knitting!
Clear skies outside so I might put a towels wash on, they are the hardest to dry indoors I find, and a good few hours on the garden line will give them a good start before going on the indoors clothes horse.
This morning I have tai chi, then home to cook lunch, probably onion omelette and salad.
After lunch, before babysitting, DH and I want to finish clearing the understairs to finally tidy up the walls, fill the cracks, paint it and then I will have my brand new pantry! Can't wait to get all my stash in tall glass jars (got 12 X 2lt in W1lko) and restock tins, tea, toilet paper etc, the usual zombie-apocalypse staples.
Dinner will be a veg casserole with tempeh, needs to be used up and it is a good protein, we have had too many carbs recently and I feel the heaviness creeping up again in my body.
Hugs to all who needs them xx
Have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Morning all
Hugs to all of those who are going through tough times my thoughts are with you all
Late one for me as had to share bed with DH and dog so very restless night . DS is at work tonight so a peaceful night in his room tonight. Jackie O sounds like a great weekend was had by all.
Dinner tonight is yesterdays left over beef and smash with veg
Have a great day whatever you are up to0 -
Having a quiet morning after shopping and wrapping presents yesterday. I want to strip our superking bed and get bedding washed and I have learned not to try to turn the mattress by myself after the debacle last time when it ended up on the floor with me on top of it.
Middle dd is coming round tonight for a bite to eat and to collect her laundry so have checked with her that gammon steak, egg and healthy chips is ok and might cook some soup as well using the soaked dried peas.
Just about to have a nice long shower, wash my hair and look out an outfit and hope no one comes to the door
Quick trip to the shop for birthday wrapping paper later and then a tidy round before dd arrives and laundry mountain will be tackled in between.

I made the Christmas cake this morning and a big pot of spicy bean soup. I hope I've not made it too hot, last time I forgot to add the chilli sauce so we had to put sriracha in it afterwards. This time I might have overdone it for my wimpy tastebuds.
I want to go out this afternoon to return some paint samples I didn't use having found the shade I wanted quite quickly. I also want to buy the paint. I also need to change my phone contract because I found out that DH gets 20% off one of the networks through work so I've been waiting for my current contract to expire.0 -
Redruby sorry to hear about your Mum's dog. Run free in the Summerlands, Sparky. xSpekySquarehead wrote: »Tonight I've to nip to Currys and get my new phone thank goodness. I have a SIM-only contract, so when it finally does turn up it's toes, I shall have a firkle in the "old phones" box and see what we have in there.
I'm resisting getting a smartphone for as long as I can because I loathe touch-screens.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
After a lot of searching I have managed to book a hotel in Liverpool for Saturday evening this week so I can visit youngest dd.
Managed to get it nearly half price with breakfast included so very pleased with myself. All I need to do now is book train tickets and visit library to print out the hotel voucher there.
