Hello all
I've got a bit of a silly question!
I bought some Tosco YS cold meat today, really nice roast beef and then got home to discover that I have 2 packs of meat (ham and roast beef) in the fridge. The whole lot needs to be used up by Tuesday!
I'll never use it up by then, so I am thinking about freezing it, but I have never done this before. is it ok to freeze, and does the quality deteriorate?

Definitely should be fine frozen, but the defrosting needs to be done thoroughly, so if you can freeze in individual slices, that may help.
The quality should not deteriorate but the defrosting may nudge texture/temperature etc.0 -
Lob it in.
It won't deteriorate at a rapid rate.... but, over many months, the colour might fade.
Even though faded, if you dig it out in two years' time you could still defrost it and eat it ... it'll be fine.
No special instructions are needed:
- open freezer door
- lob the whole pack in
- close freezer door.0 -
I used to buy a load of meat and make sandwiches and freeze them, it never really tasted any different. It also meant that I couldn't eat them before lunchtime as they needed to defrost.0

When on holiday earlier this year I bought some spectacular cold ham sliced off the bone at Leek Market and brought it home on the day we travelled home I layered it with g'proof paper and froze it and was eating it gradually for the next couple of months My only regret was that I hadn't brought more home it was fantastic .So yes I would hailly freeze cold meat without any qualms at all
PS by the way no question is ever silly on here, we all have queries and 10/10 times someone will help with the answers xx0 -
Freeze in individual portions, keep flat if you can. Stick in a buttie in the morning and should be defrosted by lunch!Mortgage Outstanding Nov '16 £142,772.75Mortgage Additional OPs 2017 Target £4522.80/ Actual £865.00GC Feb 0/£2000

I just read a quote from Katherine Johnson, one of the research scientists who worked on the moon landings. As she is American, she uses the word 'dumb': There's no such thing as a dumb question, it's only dumb if you don't ask it'
I told my students and clients that for years!0
