Train station very near M5/M6 with early service to Manchester

Hi :)

I need to travel to Manchester to arrive at latest 10am.
The trains from the South West can't make it on time so I need to drive part the way and change to a train somewhere from Bristol to Manchester, which means M5/M6.
Does anyone have a good suggestion?
Easy parking is a must.
Bristol Parkway seems to be a bit out of the way to be honest, coming from the M5.

Thanks

Could you maybe go the day before/evening before, and stay in a Travelodge? (Or another cheap, budget place...) Whenever we have an early plane flight from Gatwick or East Mids airport for example, we stay at a hotel near the airport the night before.

Similar scenario when we attended our daughter's graduation a few months ago; we had to be there for 8am!!! So we stayed in a hotel the night before.

Seems like a good idea if you need to be somewhere dead early, (like by 9 to 10 am,) and your journey is going to take 3-4 hours!
Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

Depending on when you're going flybe have a morning flight from Exeter to Manchester which should give you plenty of time to get to the city centre for 10.

Cheltenham could get you there for 9.59.

If not I'd say Crewe or Wolverhampton. Both have plenty of parking.

Try Cheltenham. Don't know what date you're travelling but I can see a train which gets into Manchester at 9.59am. I'm not sure what the parking is like though, I know there's a car park but I'm not sure how quickly it fills up in a morning.

Try Newport (you'll have to pay to go over the Severn bridge) Easy enough to park right outside and then Arriva trains Wales to Manchester Piccadilly.

    I haven't checked the times.

The 05:12 from taunton arrives in manchester at 09:59 with a single change at bristol temple meads (40 minute stopover 06:20-07:00). You can park fairly cheaply at kilkenny car park next to the station.

Parking might be an issue at Cheltenham, it's only a small 1, might be better off with a station with more parking or stay in a hotel the night before that's near a station.

What about the station by NEC, think a hotel is nearby.

If you're going to drive all the way from the South West to Crewe, you might as well not bother with a train at all and just drive to Manchester...

...but parking, even hotel parking, will cost a fortune.

Most of the station car parks in the suburbs in Birmingham are free, and you can (in theory at least) park in them for 7 days before attracting any attention from the authorities. I'd suggest my local station at Longbridge, less than 10 minutes from J4 of the M5, 20 minute train journey into New Street then plenty of trains to Manchester. You need to be at the station quite early on a weekday, I'd aim to get there before 7.

Make sure you retain at least one train ticket as you need to to open the barrier when you leave (although the last couple of times I used the car park the barrier was missing anyway!).
