Hi elljay, if your mobile is so rubbish, do you need to keep a contract going? Could you switch to a pay as you go for emergency use?
I have just got into a contract with Plusnet for broadband and my deal is pay the line rental, get internet for free. I did pay the whole 12 months up front, which isn't an option for you, but most providers do a similar contract on a monthly basis. In fact, EE are always pestering me so they might be a good first port of call for you too.
Finally, keeping the house warm, if your walls are cold then sticking anything at all on them will improve things. If you've got any spare blankets just pin them up, starting with north facing walls. It will look daft but it does make some difference (that's why castle dwelling types were into tapestries on their walls!)

  • Hello. I used to live in village that had a poor bus service. It was in the days before I have learned how to drive. It was also in the days before broadband was available. It is so funny to say that broadband came the year I moved to a different area. Try other providers for Internet, phone and mobile deals. You might get a better deal and it could be more reliable for you. My mother is 83 years old and I love going to see her. Your visits to see your mother sound really lovely. Save your petrol for that I suggest. You could use your free bus pass for local journeys. Good luck.
