Agency workers and time off

Just curiosity on my behalf.

My workplace has a number of agency workers as well as staff employed directly by them. Agency staff work for them full-time every week.

The directly employed staff have to give 4 weeks notice if they want to book any holidays. The agency staff have been told by workplace they have to give the same amount of notice if they want time off.

Some people affected are saying that this isn't allowed, others say it is.

It doesn't directly affect me, but I'm just wondering who is correct.

    It's whatever their contract with the agency states. They give notice to the agency, the agency tell their customer (your company)

    It's not the agency who has said they have to give 4 weeks notice. It's the place they are working at (via the agency) who says that agency workers have to be in line with their permanent staff.

    Ahhh see what you mean. It's whatever the contract is between the agency and the placement. There's more than one agency involved.

    In the absence of agreement, notice period should be 2X the length of leave.

    I don'[t think firm can override contract, agreed with the agencies?

    If like the job, see if can accommodate.

    Any decent firm should be able to sort short notice leave, for emergencies / important things- funerals etc?
    breathe in, breathe out- You're alive! Everything else is a bonus, right? RIGHT??
