Electric cooker without left hinged doors wanted

I am having difficulty locating a double oven freestanding electric cooker which does not have any doors hinged on the left.

Doors hinged on the right or bottom would fit much better in my kitchen.

I would be interested in any information about new or used cookers which are less than 3 years old.

  • Before I posted my original message I had experimented with various combinations of such terms with Google images but all the ones I examined in detail either failed to indicate the type of door opening or else they were not freestanding electric double oven cookers. Most were built-in and some were gas.

Yesterday I phoned Belling and they said all their doors had left hinges. The expert at my local Currys said he was not aware of any cookers meeting my requirements.

Google searches indicate that they are available in the USA but shipping costs will probably be too high.

There seem to be lots of double ovens, freestanding, with drop down doors - Beko, Bush, Hotpoint, Indesit, in fact they all appear to have drop down doors. http://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/st/double-oven-electric-cookers
  • Are you basing this assumption upon the handles across the width of the cooker? All the cookers like this I have examined have a drop down for the top oven and a left hinge for the bottom oven. The misleading handles are a style issue.

I'm confused? Pretty much every one at currys has a drop down oven door doesn't it?

Go into a Currys store and have a look.
  • I have looked at all the cookers in my local Currys. All freestanding double oven electric cookers have horizontal door handles (latest style) but whilst the top oven is drop down the bottom oven is hinged on the left.

This was also the case at another local store and their manager did not know of any that were not hinged on the left.

    That's only built in ovens

Free standing cookers have a door that opens outwards

Op. Have you looked at Beko and Zanussi? Might be worth ringing customer services

I know my fridge/freezer I had to buy a kit to change the hanging of the door

Give John Lewis a ring and ask if any of their double ovens can be supplied with right-hinged doors.

Yes sorry I think I was thinking of built in ovens.

We did have a free-standing one with a drop down door years ago, but I think it was a single oven.
