I just bought a new oral b pro 2000 (in limited edition pink :)). For me, the genius model offered nothing extra in terms of actual tooth hygiene. No faster, no better brush heads etc. And significantly higher cost. I feel it's all marketing hype. I'm happy with the 30 second 'buzz' timer and I've no interest in involving my iPhone.

But, if you feel the app would help you brush your teeth better, or be more motivating, then it has to be a good thing.

I think this is just gimmickery. There is no rocket science to good oral hygiene. Its just logic. Clean all tooth surfaces regularly to discourage plaue buid up and use interdental brushes and floss for the surface areas that may not otherwise be covered.

My toothy tools include a braun cheaper battery brush, a small headed soft bristled manual brush and tepe interdental brushes, non aggresive toothpaste and non alcoholic mouthwash.

I will have my main morning and evening brushes using toothpaste (rinse off in morning/leave on at nigh) and a couple of times a day i will use the soft manual just with clean water to brush teeth surfaces.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

All pretty good, but ditch the mouthwash! It adds nothing.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Thanks toothy..I wish i were so well informed as a child/teen about dental hygiene as i am now. Unfortunately tepe dont make interdental brushes up to size 5mm to make up for lost teeth :)

A friend was recommended listernene advanced gum defence by his dentist due to his poor tooth husbandry

But i dont have any issues like that. I think my gnashers are well under control..

There are some mouthwashes that, on recommendation from a dentist/hygienist have a certain amount of use for a certain length of time. None are a substitute for decent brushing, and none will add anything if your brushing is OK anyway.

Thanks again for all the replies. I am just going to get another 'normal' Braun Oral B.

On another note, I have tried the interdental brushes but even the tiniest one was too big for some of my teeth, therefore I have just been using floss (being conscious of all 'sides' of the gaps)...is this sufficient, or should I use brushes as well and then the floss just on the smaller gaps?

That's better off being answered by someone who can see you and see what your usual standard of tooth cleaning is.

I was using an older model oral b
OH got me the 2000 for Christmas and gave me it early
The quadrant alarm is great, holds its charge really well, flashes at me if I press to hard

Been using since Monday and my teeth are whiter.

Argos have it half price at the min £34.95. I really recommend it

Snap, had this one on Limited Edition Black for two years, and Amazon Black Friday deal... my teeth have never been better!
