This will be my 5th trip to India. Previous trips have been a month or so, however this is a short trip, there and back in a week, so shouldn't need many rupees. I'm going to watch the last Test in Chennai, and I've paid for pretty much everything upfront, including the Tickets for the Cricket. A five day pass in an air-conditioned box for the princely sum of £46!
£46??? You've been ripped off. I paid either R250 or R500 (I can't remember which) for the five days back in about 2002 when I saw England get thrashed at Mohali. I did end up only watching a day and a bit though. Annoyingly there was a local election at that time so alcohol was prohibited and I was on my own so I had rather a dull evening after the final day of the test.
Joking aside it sounds as if you'll be fine. Presuming that you change some Sterling at the airport try to persuade them to let you have as many R100s as possible but the chances are that they'll give you mostly R2000s.0 -

Blimey, I was at that Mohali Test. It was actually the beginning of December 2001. When I flew out we didn't even know if the match would take place. It was just after 9/11 and the ECB were getting a bit twitchy sending our players to the area.0 -

There's a coincidence. It was a tense time and there were very few England fans with no Barmy Army to speak of. I was really impressed with the ground which had fantastic viewing and as I understand excellent facilities for the players. I only went to the last day and a bit as I had been travelling around and made a detour. My friend had gone elsewhere for the last day as he had an extra week of travelling whereas I was going back home shortly after the test.
I'm a cricket fan but don't go on cricket holidays (that's my only test outside the UK).0 -
I think your currency issues serve you both right for liking cricket :rotfl:......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0
