Mobile DJ - Do I need to Register as Self-Employed?

So now that I am registered, I was wondering when am I meant to do my self assessment?

As I registered in the tax year 2016-2017 and I've put in my self employment application that the business started on 05/11/2016 my deadline should be January 2018. Or am I wrong?
