X Box One S - what size?

Options
Hi, I am after some advice please.

We decided last night that we would get our twin 10 year daughters an X Box One S for Christmas. However we don't know whether they will need a 1TB console or if a 500GB one would be ok for them. I doubt they will be going online to play as not many of their friends have one and I think they are more interested in games such as FIFA and rock band etc rather than role play / strategy games.

What should we go for?

First question is are you sure its the right console ?

Second question is whats your budget ? If there's no budget then get 2 1TB consoles.

Depends if they are likely to have alot of games.

When you get it first setup you will get 362GB (from 500GB)

Fifa needs just below 40GB of space so say 40GB so once the console is setup and fifa is installed you would be left with about 320GB of storage so other games that are installed would reduce that number more.

You can buy a USB 3 ext hard drive to use for storage.

If they are likely to play the same games then look at Game Sharing Xbox One, only works with digital games and not games in disc form.
  • Since there is only £20 difference between 500GB and 1TB I'd go for the larger hdd. More storage is better than less storage. Don't forget to get an extra controller.

Ah I misread it, I assumed the OP was looking at buying 2 consoles rather than 1 between the 2. 2 might solve some of the usual issues if 1 wants to play 1 game and the other twin wants to play a different game and end up fighting.
  • £20 for twice the storage is a no-brainer imho.

but 500gb should be more then enough, for casual gaming (ime)

it's just when you have aload of games installed that can eat it up, but if you only really have a couple of games on the go, at one time then 500gb is plenty for me.

don't forget though, that if you start a "xbox fad" with friends, they are want to go online which costs extra for membership etc.

like if kids didn't want "the best thing going" then i would reccommend, 2x ps3's as free online access, for the most fun, especially for a 10 year old

just they probably would see that as "you ruining christmas" etc,

The subscriptions can be shared so £25 (based on the price Game are selling the 12 month sub for) becomes 12.50 per twin which is pretty good.

The best deals "tend" to be on the 500GB console, so the price difference might be significantly more than £20 all things considered.

For my XBox One S and my previous XBox One i opted for the standard 500GB model, then added a 2TB external drive.
  • We've just got the 500GB because as someone said, the best deals tend to be on the 500GB console. Within a day we'd filled that with games and bought a 2TB hard-drive extension for £60-ish. Works out, overall the better deal as we got some games we really wanted with it too.
