Hi
I had a loan that has been paid out (paid out Jan this year), I have just been contacted by them saying that i still owe them some money. They're claiming they never got 2 payments! Seeing as I got an annual statement from them which clearly said they did receive the payments, where do I stand?
Thanks

A little bit to the left, then jump forward and wave your arms around.

I assume you can take a photocopy of the statement and send them a nicely worded letter where you explain that they received all the payments and that you expect no further outstanding amount for the loan, and include the photocopy statement.

Are you sure all the payments and interest etc are all included on your statement?

  • Yes they are indeed. I can photocopy it and send it to them, after that if they still maintain there was a mistake what do i do? Was thinking of FCA?
  • Can you show the money leaving your bank account for each payment on their statement?

The process is you try to resolve it with the lender. If you're not happy, you can escalate your complaint to the FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service).
  • I agree with peaceful - check carefully your bank statement just in case say a d/d payment was refused by your bank - but may take time on the loan statement to show as a non payment.

If you really have made all the payments you have nothing to worry about but talking about the FCA at this early stage is a bit premature.
  • Will check the bank statements thoroughly but i find it very odd indeed that they "may" only have noticed a potential non payment now when the loan was paid out 10 months ago!

Equally, any independent complain investigator would find it odd that you missed yourself missing payments.

Get your proof stacked up and progress your complaint.
