  • Yes, but she will have higher outgoings than me.

    £650 childcare
£500 rent (minus benefit if applicable)
    £90 council tax (As above)
    Feeding a watering kids etc...
    And all her bills.

I'll be in a military barrak block, all my food, rent, council tax, fuel bills etc...come out of my wages before I am paid so will have a net income of £1450 to £1500.

We have said that once shes got her feet on the ground we can look at it and adjust my contribution accordingly if need be.

Still not done my SOA....been busy all day, might sit down in a bit with my Ice cream(Not Ben & Jerrys anymore...lol) and do it.

    Cheers again

  • Phil, what an easy to read SOA... well done!

I can't make any suggestions at all, but i'm sure the "clever ones" will be along soon to offer advice.

It's great that you have zero-d a couple of balances already. That must've felt great!?

Well done you on coping well with what must be a difficult time for you. These things are never easy but you seem really sussed and in control.

Keep posting, will read with interest. (0% of course!:rotfl:)
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

I'm sure your kids and relationship with them stands a great chance because it's so amicable and good for you mate for supporting your own kids and their mom and tackling your debt. Your priorities and principles have the thumbs up from me. Good luck.
  • Thanks for all your support.

My priority is to make make kids life as comfortable as possible, if i'm debt free then it will be a whole lot easier.

Obviously I need to look after myself as well and make sure my wife is coping to. At the end of the day she hasn't done anything wrong and neither have I, were just to young people (28 & 27) that want more from our lifes than we are getting.

    thanks again
  • It's nice of you to want to ensure your wife is coping well financially as well as your kids, even though you are splitting up. I really respect you for that!

Keep a spending diary to see where any surplus cash is going. Your expenses look pretty reasonable to me on the whole.

With regard to hair clippers, my OH uses them on himself and he is defintely not a skin head, lol! He uses clippers with attachments for different lengths of hair. Start off with the biggest attachment and if your hair looks too long then try the next size down until you get it right.

It was a set that came with the clippers, scissors, various attachments, etc, for about £20 and has paid for itself many times over!

  • Yeah I have some clippers and do my sons hair with them...

...but if i'm honest I'm a bit of a tart when it comes to my hair, now i don't meen i have high lights etc... but theres no way i'd cut it myself or let anybody else touch it that didn't know what there doing. I'd rather reduce something else by £8 like clothes than cut my own hair!
  • I know what you mean! My OH did have a little bit of a learning curve, but now he does it as well as the hairdresser! But it does take a brave man to try it :rotfl:
