Help to Buy in London

We have tried shared ownership as we earn under the threshold, trouble is, there are so many people viewing the properties we have not yet come out top of the list to buy a re-sale property.

Shared ownership is kind of like bidding on a bloody expensive council house.

I do sympathise but it really isn't appropriate for the taxpayer to be subsidising anyone to buy homes worth £600,000 at a time of austerity.

The problem in London is not the help to buy limit - but the price of housing - which since 2011 has been boosted in no small part by changes in government policies on stamp duty and these help to buy schemes.

You want less help to buy not more - prices might actually drop not rise without all these props.

Cos if you say we are going to give 40% interest free government loans to people to buy homes in London - well developers are obviously just going to put their prices up 40% aren't they! And when you look at the price rises in the last 5 years that is exactly what has happened!
