Has the Government indicated an eta for correcting this error?

Or is it the case with a general election looming, they'll pass the buck?

I believe its gone back to the Employment tribunal that made the original decision to decide how compensation/reparation should be made but that only applies those organisations who took the action, one would hope they will follow the same decision but who knows, I think it might be years....:(

    CSPS Classic is 1/80th too.

What I was referring to... it's the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme, to give it it's full title ;)

Its what they did when they closed Classic to new members and introduced NUVOS and Partnership. This time they got greedy and didn't do their due diligence as they rushed it in. Karma and we all get to pay for it!

Yes, I remember the stuff about it coming in (I left mid-2007) but I was leaving anyway... Classic all the way on my deferred pension ;)

I'm out at 60 regardless all being well.

One of the things that has always bothered me for those that would be impacted by it is a situation where people take their Classic pension at 60 (no brainer as its not accruing) and therefore have to reduce their working hours as per the rules. These people will be forced to reduce their Alpha pension as well by having to go part-time.

Even the unions in their recent joint letter to the Cabinet Office indicate that they don't anticipate the remedy following the court hearing to be sorted by April 2020.

Firm of Solicitors encouraging private group claims ref McCloud judgement. Their fee is £1.5k plus VAT. I'm just wondering, why would anyone need or want to go down this route when the Government is legally bound to come up with a settlement that satisfies the unions and will have to be rubber stamped by the Employment Tribunal?

Does anyone think that the Govt. could simply remove the protection for those nearing retirement and move everyone to the new terms and conditions?

But what about those staff who've retired since 2015? I don't know what the answer is going to be but it's an interesting situation.

No, because of the ruling (cannot make anyone worse off). However, if the government has a clue, it will revise accrual rates from the point the protection ruled discriminatory falls away.

Surely the ruling was along the lines of 'cannot make anyone worse off than others in the scheme', so I would have thought that provided that the rules changed for everyone at some date in the future then the govt could certainly do it.

Rather like when that bloke took the govt to court for sex discrimination to get his pension at 60. The govt lost, but I seem to remember the pension for women being raised - which may have been a surprise to those people backing him, but not to others.
