Hi all,
I started a job on X k and soon will have probation.
I started a job because it was slightly different from my typical previous jobs . It is mainly project based rather than support.
I did turn down offers of around 15k more than what i am getting and now during probation meeting I want to raise that i need 15k plus
How would you go about raising this?
This is around 30% increase

I need to say that I am prepared to walk out if they don't agree but want to be positive and do that as last resort as like the nature of the job0

Can you prove to your employer that you are worth a 30% salary increase. Because if I were your employer, that is the first question I would be asking you.
Oh, and if you claimed you had turned down jobs worth £15K pa than this one, then that was your choice! If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
You are correct that was my choice and no one forced me but i did it due to nature and exposure of the job
My answer will be that is what market value is and want to get there
What i am uncertain on is how to start the talk and what to say
Itwillbe most likely on phone which does make it even harder0 -
My answer will be that is what market value is and want to get there
Which does not answer the question
"Can you prove to your employer that you are worth a 30% salary increase".
My answer to you would be "Prove to me you're worth market value"
That's the clue to the answer to your question "how to start the talk and what to say" - "I believe because I can do/have done x, y and z, I should be getting a increase in salary. My current pay is well below the industry norm"If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
I wouldn't go all guns blazing . How long have you worked there. How would you say your worth that money increaseMortgage free wannabe

Starting balance £66,565.45
Current balance £55,819

I have been here few month
I say it based on my technical skills which aren't easy to find, attitude to work and professional relationship built with clients of ours
What i need some help on is how to raise this without sounding arrogant .
Worst case scenario i can walk out as i know what i am comfortably worth however don't want to start a chat with that attitude
I want to start it by saying i need more because of what i offer whilst i don't look desprate or selfish
What words would you use?
Would you raise it in your probation meeting or leave it little onger?0 -
Why did you accept it at 15k less than you wanted?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
-
As i said because of the exposure to technologies and being all project based rather than support
My mentality is if i do my job well then no reason they won't pay ke what i want as long as it is wihtin reason0 -
