While we don't understand the long-term effects fully yet. It's pretty certain they are A LOT safer than cigarettes
The dangers come from vaporising the flavours. The actual PG/VG that makes up the juice is proven to be 100% safe. As it is pumped into hospital air amongst other things.
You can get 100ml for £10 (which does me, a heavy vaper who makes big massive clouds, 6-8 weeks or so) from here http://juicyvapes.co.uk/
Invest in a decent ecig (£50 or so) and you'll quit smoking no bother. I've been cigarette free for 3yrs now, saved £5k, added 290 days to my life and now vape without nicotine.
Also, I'd stop paying your TV licence, a netflix subscription is better and cheaper (Even cheaper if you borrow someones account!). The TV licence people are a private entity and have no right to enter your home so whenever they come to my door I just tell them I'm not interested in buying anything and close the door. They stopped coming after the second time.
I've bit the bullet and ordered starter kits for us. They should be arriving tomorrow.
I've never heard of not paying for a TV licence. I thought that was illegal?
We have free view and an old sky plus box, so we record a couple of things on there, and we also have Xbox live, so get catch up on there, along with Netflix which is the only to thing we pay for. I used to pay £70+ for sky, but I couldn't justify the cost. I reduced it to the £35 package and still didn't feel we were getting value for money, so I cancelled it about 4 years ago and have never looked back. I'm pretty happy to watch stuff on YouTube too, so that fills my tv time! If my husband wants to watch football or UFC, he visits a neighbour.0 -

Eh, well it is if you watch/stream TV - but not enforced. I have never paid for a TV licence, I've also never watched terrestrial TV though. In 7 years I think I've watched 1 thing on iPlayer - 'The Street' just because I was curious about a street in my town being a documentary.
And good luck with the ecig. The starter parks are generally pretty gash (depends what one you got). So once you've been off the fags for long enough to justify buying a proper one invest in a box mod and use the starter kit as a backup '2 is 1 and 1 is none'
edit: I see you've went for the Innokin T18 - Looks decent to start with. 14 watts should do you. I use 80w but I have a RDA and it's basically a fog machine!
Also, remember it's not about the cigarettes you smoke, it's about the ones you don't smoke. After a while you will be disgusted by cigarettes and go exclusively on the vape. Stick at it and it'll pay off!

My husband wanted to go straight for a box mod, but I asked someone I know that vapes and he recommended a starter kit to get used to it and then upgrade in a couple of months.
My only question at the moment is how to go about quitting? Do I smoke and vape and gradually reduce, or do I stop the cigarettes completely? I've ordered flavours to start with that have 18mg of nicotine. I was told that the tobacco flavours are disappointing, so I've gone for 5 fruitier flavours for now.
The vapes say that they're out for delivery today, but the eliquids said 1-2 days. Im not sure if they're arriving today or tomorrow.0 -
Generally the tobacco flavours from high street shops I found awful.
But I fell in love with this one http://www.ichorliquid.co.uk/desert-ship.html and vaped that for a year (I added a hit of menthol in mine, as when I smoked I smoked Lambert and Butler Fresh Burst), then I finally decided to try new flavours lol and now use Cola Cubes and Wine Gums from vape mate
I'm gonna take a look at juicy vapes tho as I pay £2.79 for 10ml so they sound a lot cheaper again
I've stuck with my starter e-cig, I keep thinking about changing to a bigger one, but I don't even know where to start
Well done on taking the first steps for you both

When I quit I would generally vape in the house and smoke at the pub or when I was out. That quickly changed when I fell in love with the flavours.
If your liquid is too harsh you'll need to cut down the nicotine level. I started at 14mg and even that destroyed my throat.Capital One - 950/1400

Hopefully.
Although I know of someone who bought a new e-cig kit not long ago. Plugged it in to charge at work - it caught fire. Out came the extinguishers and they thought they got it all. It caught light again - more extinguisher. Almost set off the office sprinkler system.

I ordered the liquids from vampirevape (I think). It was £4 for 10ml and 4 for £12. I bought 5 flavours - heisenberg, strawberry, pear drops, pinkman and blackjack.
My vape arrived today, but the OHs didn't as Amazon didn't include it in the box. They've refunded it and I've reordered so it's delivered to my parents house so there's someone in to sign for it.
I put the pear drops flavour in, and it smells great. It really does hit the back of your throat though, so I think that's going to take some getting used to!
I'll make sure I've got cigarettes for the next few days and try and smoke just a few a day and see if I can be on the vape only by the end of the week.

I've put the pear drops flavour in and if I inhale hard it makes my choke, so that's going to take some getting used to and I'll need to learn to inhale gently! I like the smell of all the flavours I've ordered, so fingers crossed they'll help me quit!
What are your favourite flavours?0 -

That doesn't sound good at all.
My understanding is that it's the unregulated and modified vapes that are more likely to catch fire.
I think I'd be in serious trouble if I tried to charge it in work! Normally anything electronic needs the maintainence guys to come and check it before it's allowed to be plugged in. a lot of paperwork even just to plug in a charger!0 -
Hi Mrsms!!!
Good luck with your debt free push! One thought I would like to put on your long term radar is to start putting aside a larger savings pot in future. Although £1000 is a nice round figure to aim for it likely won't be enough for longer term bumps in the future. My aim at the moment is to put aside £2100 which equates to my share of 3 months of basic bills and household stuff. My partner has this amount put aside already so that we will eventually have £4200 joint savings for future issues. That way, if anything goes wrong then we will have a three month buffer to fall back on. From your figures I notice that your £1000 buffer would cover you and your SO for just over two weeks of household costs.
Do keep going! I loved seeing your update with figures lowered :-) It's a great feeling.
FYI, it can be done. I finished paying off £15,000 of debt last month making this my first debt free month and year! I did my repayments through CAP and went through similar drawn out repayment months and ones where I had nasty vet bill susprises and other where I cleared a larger chunk than expected. The best thing to say is that I hope you keep on keeping on and wish you all the best!!!:T Debt free wannabe by Feb 2016 - The final push! :T Nov debt total: £4036.36: CapQuest: £1,049.76/Interest 0%, Barclaycard Visa: £863.48/Interest 12.90%, RBS credit card: £788.52/Interest 0%, Barclaycard Visa: £ 765.63/Interest 12.90%, RBS overdraft (defaulted): £568.97/Interest 0%, CapQuest £523.96/Interest 0%.0
