Leeds any reason not to apply direct?

Hello,
Currently have a mortgage with Leeds for 5 years. We are looking to move house need to borrow more. Leeds have said If we take a new product with them we wont have to pay any penalties on the current product as less than 6 months left.
We have found the Leeds mortgae we want. I am self employed, 6 years accounts. Wife employed, Never a late payment on anything including Leeds mortgage for last 6 years. No outstanding loans or HP or Credit card debt. No childcare or commuting costs. We have used the affordability calculator and found we can be offered the amount we require. 72% LTV. So my question? Is there any issue in me applying direct on the leeds website? Would people not recommend that and suggest a broker? We are happy with leeds and the product seems competitive. The guy on the phone at Leeds said If we do it online it will involve a credit check (Obvs) but we would HAVE to finish online as there will be another credit check. Not sure how this is an issue?
Any advice?>
