Most of these deals sold out and the prices have gone up, hopefully this is in preparation for black friday but who knows?
I have been keeping an eye HERE seems a good guide but not always updated quick enough to get the deals.
One S is quieter, smaller but could be dearer. If the colour is important it can be found in various colours eg blue, maybe the green, white, some colours might be exclusive to just 1 company eg Argos.
The first 1 is bigger, maybe a little bit noisier ( I never noticed much noise tbh) and possibly be had for cheaper than the One S.
1 tip maybe buy a bundle with games he would like.
Can get Xbox Live Gold for £1 here http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/.
There have been very regular deals appearing there, particularly with bundled games.
The original console "seems" to be being phased out, so there are deals to be had if its just one of those you're after.
Yes but there's 2 versions or 3 if you include the Elite.
The first Xbox One which is black.
The Xbox One Elite
The Xbox One S which is the latest addition to the arena.
As been mentioned the first 1 is being phased out so could be deals in a variety of retailers on black Friday and maybe run up to xmas. Could be deals for the One S too, might not be as good though.
Yes, all Xbox One games work on the original console - the main advantage the S offers (aside from being smaller) is that it has 4K blu-ray and HDR support.

Yes of course they will ?
All 3 I mentioned are Xbox One consoles just a different variant.
If he plays a lot of games I would recommend the larger 1tb hard drive as a lot of content gets downloaded on to it.
when buying a console last year we used the site below, this allows you to send what each deal offers and price etc.
