Applying for two different positions at the same company..

I've applied for a position with a large company. I have sufficient experience for this role and believe my background suits the role well. There are six posts being advertised for.
However, the company I am applying to are also advertising another position, against with several posts, at a level directly junior to the role I have applied to. It also interests me, and I would be more than happy to work in this role too, despite it requiring a slightly different skillset, the only difference is a lower salary. The closing date for that role is also in a week's time.
Should I...
a) Apply for that role too
b) Leave things as is and hope I am invited to interview for the first position I applied to
I fear that applying for both will make the employer think I am less suited to the higher salary role and might consider me for the more junior role instead - or put them off completely. Alternatively, it might show them how keen I am to work with them.
Advice? I know it's a bit of a "first world problem" but I'd rather not damage my chances.

If there is a contact number I would be inclined to phone them to discuss the situation. Applying for 2 posts at the same time could be construed in any of the ways you have suggested.0

I agree with tellit, although I'd email instead, give them chance to reply when convenient. It also gives you a chance to (very briefly) sell yourself, a few words about why the company appeals to you may (or may not) prompt the recruiter to look out for your application. Good luck!0

I applied for two roles, senior and junior, and got the more senior one - so it can happen. Good luck. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Don't see an issue. Apply for both. I was interviewed for 2 different roles at the same company on same day. Unfortunately didn't get either of them0

I'd go for the more senior one. They could always offer the junior post if you don't quite make it for the senior.0
