I went to the Lisburn Road salon today since the Lisburn one closed down. I was told they would honour the Lisburn student deal of £20 per cut on a Mon, Tues or Wed, so i booked my usual stylist who had transferred from Lisburn.
When i went to pay i was asked for £35, i explained the situation and showed my student card. The lady at reception (who i think is the manager) was very rude, gave me no explaination and just kept snapping "£35 pounds please" when i tried to explain. She said it was £35 because this person was a top stylist, I told her it was £20 in Lisburn no matter who i went to, she snapped "well it shouldnt be" and gave me a filthy look.
I have been a Toni&Guy customer for 6 years now and have spent literally thousands there as i get my hair cut and coloured each month. I have never been spoken to in such a manner and am disgusted.
I didnt really expect to be let off with £15 but she could have handled the situation a hell of a lot better and there is no way ill be going back to that salon! Is it worth writing to the head office?
Any suggestions/comments?

I'm an ex Consumerline advisor, and while I would also suggest you register the details with them, I doubt there's very much they can do for you as an individual. In a situation like this, if the problem affected the wider population, then there are certain avenues of legal recourse that can be pursued. Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to individual cases. Individual cases of incorrect pricing are very hard to prove with the service industry, as there is no legal requirement for a hairdresser to provide you with a pricelist before you ask for a cut/colour etc. You can of course ask beforehand and decide it's too expensive, but there is no legal requirement for them to have a list of all their prices displayed.
For you personally to have any chance at claiming back the £15 from the Lisburn road store, you'd need to have some type of documentary evidence that they intended to honour this deal. Since it was a verbal statement made to you (or so I gather from your post), then you would have a tough time arguing this point. Verbal statements are as legally binding as written statements, but are so much harder to prove.
Without the written statement, I think you're at the mercy of T&G here.
I would definitely contact their head office using the details a_b posted above, and explain that you feel let down by their failure to allow you to avail of a promise they made.
I would honestly expect that the best you could hope for was an apology from T&G, and probably a voucher towards the next cut & colour, but you face the problem of not having this discount available in future.
It may be time to seek a new stylist I'm afraid.0 -
