successfully managed to open a Barclays basic today, very easy and they were great-online mobile/contactless all offered and accepted
Ironicallly Lloyds bank card rejected for the first time since BR minutes after I walked out of Barclays-
Assumed frozen but have just managed to transfer my remaining Lloyds balance to the Barclays account via online banking-its debited Lloyds but will need to call Barclays to confirm receipt
1 question: I transferred the whole Lloyds balance, so left with zero, however due to a couple of returned direct debits around my BR date, when I was keeping my balance to an absolute minimum, I am due to be charged a fee at some point, what happens if there is no balance to cover them, given that I have now effectively walked from Lloyds?

You'll receive a letter, as possibly will the OR. Pay it at earliest opportunity.0

ok, should probably go into Lloyds and formally close the account, tie up loose ends etc?0

Yes, cannot be done over the phone bizarrely.0

Perhaps the bounced DD fees are a 'debt' that will fall into the BR?
All you need now is a personalised card!0 -
Yup, looking forward to that bit, the simplest things give us pleasure in such uncertain times!0

to cap this one off for those interested i emailed a complaint to lloyds re their 'handling' of my bankruptcy despite my best efforts to be proactive before during and after-and more specifically re the returned direct debits and forthcoming charges-(explained i was keeping balance at a minimum due to poss. of account being frozen and need to have cash in hand, hence DDs not going through)
received v.apologetic and sympathetic call later in the day, promises to try harder etc-DD charges (£40) waived and £50 compensation added to account
usual assertion that they had heard nothing from OR and the account was still good-so not sure what was happening when card refused the other day- also she kind of implied that the account may be left alone as, in her words, i have managed it well and there have been no o/d or loans -
i've moved to Barclays now and switched everything over, so not reversing that, but might just keep a small balance on account with lloyds and see what happens, might start using again after discharge!
finally thanks for post by lisjbeth inspiring me to complain-bit of a result for 5 mins spent on an email0 -
