Cooling and freezing a whole cooked chicken

Thanks all, this is very helpful advice and makes me feel better.
Linda, I don't think there's any harm in using the slow cooker as it does cook meat thoroughly, the whole chicken I cooked in it before just fell to pieces it was cooked that much.
I also now have a smaller slow cooker so could do some chicken pieces in that for a meal for myself and one left over to freeze.0 -

Second roast on Monday.
Turned into curry on Tuesday.
Left on the stove overnight and finished on Wednesday.
Doesn't see the freezer!
Your chickens must be massive, we only get one meal out of a chicken with a tiny bit left over for a sandwich or two.0 -

My leftover chicken stays in the (cold) oven overnight as I hate eating really cold chicken straight from the fridge, plus it ruins the flavour. Still alive 40+ years later!
The following day I'll do cold chicken wraps/salad for lunch and cook up a meal for the freezer (curry/pie/pasta dish etc) and the carcass is then turned into broth/soup.0 -
Like Feral moon I put ours in the empty unused oven till its cold enough for the fridge or freezer. The whole inner slow cooker bowl fits in there.
We mostly cook chicken in the microwave in a big bowl and that's where that goes to cool too0 -

A >2kg chicken can provide at least 12 portions of meat plus stock so not such a stretch after all0
