    Is it matter?
You only buy stuff if you need it, not because it is on sale.

I have a brand new microwave, unopened, which is coming up to ten years old. The old one is now 18 years old, and refuses to die!

I have a 40" SONY, also unopened, but three years old.
The old one was losing its memory, hence channels.
So I bought the new SONY, when there was a good deal, expecting to swap it over when the old one's Alzheimer gets impossible to live with; and then it got better!? I found that powering down totally brings the channels back. Eventually, the important channels get lost, so I have to manually re-scan the satellites, NOT FreeSat automatic scanning.
