Does anyone know what the best station is to get off for the gasworks? Botanic or central? And how long would it take to walk to it?

10-15 minutes from Central. Leave the station, turn left and walk until you are past the residential houses on your left and then turn left again. You will keep walking and come to the gas works.
Probably shorter from botanic but I don't go that way.0 -

You can walk down the tow path from Central station to the Gasworks. Theres an exit at the end of the Central station car park (or thereabouts) from memory.
Far quicker than walking round through the estate.
Also depends on where you're coming from. If you're coming from the Portadown side, its probably quicker to get off at Great Vic or botanic and walk rather than sit on the train until it makes its way back out and round.
If you're coming from Bangor direction, i'd definitely get off at Central.0 -
Yep as above. If you want the absolute shortest walk, Botanic, but it'll take longer on the train.
From Bangor side, getting off at Central and walking down the towpath is quickest
From Lisburn side, getting off at Great Victoria St and walking through town is quickest, by the time the trains stop and/or turn in these big stations.0 -
What time of day are we talking?
Just today the police issued another warning to businesses in the area to 'take care' if using the tow path. I'm an able bodied and reasonably well built male and avoid it due to the Times of day I would be using it especially now it's dark most of the time.0 -
Thanks for all the replies. Sportsarb - it would be in the morning around 830 and after 5 in the evening. I did wonder how safe the tow path is, don't fancy walking it alone if there aren't many people about!0
