Best value batteries
I've not used Energiser since they were Ever Ready, how do they compare with Duracell?
I've found the 10 for £1 batteries to be just no good for what I need, okay for a wireless keyboard maybe but not flash guns.

Answering my own question here but I've done a little bit of research and found some surprising results. 'You get what you pay for' isn't necessarily the case with batteries it seems and the bargain shops score high. Duracell's cheaper ones appear to be better value than their more expensive ones. Ikea scores high too. It's not exactly clear cut either because of the techy stuff involved with producing the results so I'm not entirely sure still what to buy
There's a very comprehensive table on this page at battery showdown http://www.batteryshowdown.com/results-lo.html 0 -

Thanks for that link.
I use rechargeable batteries nowadays, in both AAA and AA sizes. I started off using Energiser, but bought a pack of Fusion rechargeables from Poundland the other week (4 in a pack) and they seem to be working fine - time will tell.0 -
The best value AA and AAA alkaline batteries I have found are Wilkinsons own brand.0

I never buy Duracells any more. Had very bad leakage experiences with them - and no, not bought from dodgy ebay sellers but several different major retailers.
Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.
Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.

Why not just get some decent quality rechargeables? These are amongst the best you can get, and they're only £7.57 for 4:

Can be recharged a couple of thousand times.0 -

Energiser are about the same quality, and you can buy them for £4 to £5.0 -

Apparently Lidl Alkaline AA batteries are good VFM.0

I always get the Kodak branded alkaline ones from Poundland or Tesco. Normally they are packaged in 6s, occasionally though you can get 8 for £1.0
