Definition of default?

Looking at my credit file it appears that technically I haven't defaulted on my barclaycard debt, whilst I have with other credit cards and loans (stopped making payments on all of them nearly 2 years ago)

Looks like barclaycard has just been allowed to drift with missed payments

Declared BR a month ago

Does this make any difference to my future relationship with Barclays, if desired-I.e if I want credit etc, at a much later date of course

Not 100% what defaul means and implications therein

Your BR marker will be the only influence for the next 6 years with any organisation, those you have or have not had a history with.
  • I thought as much!

Still hasn't registered on my file though interestingly (equifax) , name spelt wrong on BR order (one letter but googling my name + bankruptcy with the correct spelling throws nothing up, Gazette etc) potential lucky escape or something I should rectify to avoid problems later on......?

Or it can just take a while to hit the file, although would have thought this happens quickly for obvious reasons?
  • If name is incorrect on BR order, get it sorted ASAP. If court has made mistake and you submitted correct spelling, no charge.

It will avoid creditors continuing to chase and allow any forgotten to accept BR order number in future without any rigmarole.

Barclaycard have an habitual habit of using "AP" markers instead of defaulting you.

There is a dedicated thread to this subject on DFW board.

As said above, in your situation it makes little difference anyway.

You could also search the Individual Insolvency Register if you want to check your bankruptcy status.
