Only taking half a break and going home early ?

  • This probably depends on what type of work you do.
In my line of work, as long as the job is done, I am free to go whenever.
I personally don't eat lunch so I leave earlier to catch an early train back.

Overall, I don't think I've ever put in less than 40hrs though since I tend to work from home as well :(.
Probably why it's never been an issue.
  • Wouldn't happen at our place - we operate a use it or lose it policy regarding lunch break esp when and as their isn't the man power.

Our night team get paid extra because there is even less of them and they are vulnerable whilst they also work a slightly longer shift it's a totally different on/day offs pattern so it would never pull off with the day team.
They are also a different competency level.

As a one of maybe, not a chance if you are in a contact centre which as someone else has mentioned we've absolutely no idea if this the case, let alone how many colleagues they are around, hourly paid or salaried.. to time served.

Night shifts and late duties are always the most vulnerable, I finished many times then I care to remember as the only person on duty or very thin on the ground come 8pm so it stands to reason very early birds would be just as vulnerable. There is no law to rely on when an employer can change some ones working times at their choosing I have nearly gone though this again and there would be nothing to back me up, (except getting another job with times that do suit) I don't know that I hold out much hope for ya.

Will definitely depend on the employer.

Just ask your employer, explain how you have put it on here re miss the worse of the rush hour traffic.
