Advice with application and a default

Hi,
Applying for a mortgage with Halfiax. I have had the AIP approved.
My experian credit report is showing as perfect.
My equifax and callcredit show 1 settled default from 2013 (mobile phone)
My questions :-
1. Do halifax just use Experian?
2. Should I tell halifax about the default on application?
Thanks,

The simple answer is that you need to be honest on an application.
If you're asked a question like this then you need to tell the truth:
"Has any applicant had a County Court Judgment (CCJ) or default registered against them or if self-employed against their business within the last 6 years?"I am a Mortgage BrokerYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Broker, so you need to take my word for it.

Did you disclose the default at AIP stage, as it's the same question then as it is for the full application?I am a mortgage broker. Hi Kingstreet,
There was no questions asked of a default or adverse credit on the application for the the AIP. If it helps, I used the Halifax online form.0 -
Sorry, I assumed the direct version was the same as that used by intermediaries which asks if you've had any CCJ or default in the last six years.I am a mortgage broker. Halifax's straight to customer 'Online Mortgage Promise' application doesn't ask this question, but the for Intermediaries application does.
I had this confusion, but you will be asked at full application stage anyway and you need to declare it then.0 -
No apologies needed

So it's best to state the default? I understand it is illegal to not do so, surely it's easy to say that I only checked my experian report and not equifax.
Would stating the default mean Halifax would then search for the default ? For example if it does not show ok experian would this trigger them to look at others that they would not usually ?
Do you think I will be ok with this one default from a mobile which is nearly 4 years old and settled. Also a 10% deposit0 -
Hi, I bank with the Halifax and have done for 10 years and they have refused my recent mortgage application for 1 late payment and this was due to me paying it and it not being processed until after a bank holiday which went on my credit check as being a month late. Halifax even stated that it was more an admin problem rather than me actually paying it late but nether the less they still declined as it was within the last six months. Obviously I felt this was extremely harsh.
On a positive for you they said if it was not in the last six months they wouldn't mind plus it was a mortgage payment not a 4 year old one from a Mobile as I don't think this will bother them at all. None the less still tell them up front so if it does get flagged they have an explanation to hand.
I have late payments on my credit card which also show on my credit report but they didn't seem concerned with these so I'm sure you will be fine.0 -
Thanks Rich.
Anyone else give some insight to if they feel this will be accepted?0 -
Updating this.
We applied for the mortgage in full direct with Halifax and no questions of the default was asked. I did although say that there is one applied to the account from a few years ago from a mobile phone, to which the response was 'Mobile phones are the worst for defaults' did not even seem to bat a eyelid.
The application was completed without any mention of the underwriters and then the valuation has been booked for next week.
On the home straight?!0
