  • If you receive a response please keep us informed.
  • Rang the company (thanks Chevalier for the number) to ask what kind of proof they needed. Was told I didn't need to send anything as the council have been in touch to say that the debtor no longer lives at this address.
  • Yay good news!!
  • I actually know alot of bailiffs, and and I will be honist and say, that although intimidating, they do NOT want to take your stuff. The amount of money involved in seezing and selling is really not worth there time. Most will even except payments of as little as £5 a week to pay off the debt.

If you talk to the people, they will usually be nice and offer help. If you shout and scream at them, they will be less likely to help. Its always best to be honist and upfront with them about everything. Some companies do give them bad names though.
    Debt : 10500 MNBA CC =£3000 EGG CC =£1500 Overdraft = £1500 Loan = £6000

I actually found the guy who came to see us about BT from Moorcroft friendly to the point of not being able to get him to shut up. Rossendales however, I would happily round them all up and lock them in a small room with a sumo wrestler for an hour, yelling 'They have a Mars Bar in their pockets...' through the keyhole.

At least you got it sorted. Can be worrying, especially if you're already a DFW.
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Current Pay Off Target : £1500
  • Kristian is right. It is the THREAT of a bailiff taking your goods that the bailiff relies upon for payment. The truth is that goods are taken in approx: 2 cases in every 100.

I was interested in the last post to say that the person form Moorcroft was reasonable but the one from Rossendales was not. That is because there is a huge difference. Rossendale's visit was from a certificated bailiff and Moorcroft's from a debt collector.

Debt collectors cannot take your goods and even if you allow them into your home, they cannot seize/levy on goods. They have very little power.

    Bailiff's on the other hand..........
