    Hello :j

    Just popping in with a quick update on the money front to keep my mind on track.

    We have made a couple of spends over the last 24 hours, £81.99 on a big shop after we have run down the stores. We have also purchased DD birthday presents - £12.50 after using the vouchers on the Amazon account.

    We have been out today to see a Julia Donaldson play and as my mum was joining us, my dad acted as chauffeur and they took us to lunch afterward, so I think we have saved around £20.

    I am counting these as savings, as we had planned to spend money on DD presents and day trip, so I will move £54.07 to the savings account so that it doesn't get wasted elsewhere.

    This brings the savings to £7314.60/£10,000

    Accounts checked and balanced;

    - £8.10 sent to savings (this is to reflect the difference saved between actual cost of photo frames and what they should have been). Account now sitting at £7322.70/£10,0000

    - I have received the last £3 Amazon voucher requested from SB, this has been added to the account to re-build. Almost at the cash-out threshold for another :j

    I have received emails from ClickSnap and Checkout Smart, politely reprimanding me for folding my receipts (whoops!) - if anyone uses these apps, be aware of this.

    Today's planned spends are;

    - Haircut from personal money
    - Need to get £125 cash out for carpet man tomorrow
    - Drop off OH dry cleaning (£5.50)
    - Postage costs (probably around £5
    - Withdraw £10 for a birthday card

    The majority of our spends will take place at the start of the month as we prepare for a newborn to enter the house, but I am conscious that it all looks quite frivolous at the minute :o.

    Good Afternoon.

    This week is flying by and has had some ups and downs, but I have practiced gratitude for the opportunities that have been presented by the not so good bits :T

    - car boot latch and rear view mirror had to be replaced at a cost of £116.54. Weirdly, it was quite a comical situation, the boot kept opening when I was driving and then as I was driving the the garage, the rear view mirror dropped off . . . you couldn't make it up! :rotfl: I was half expecting Mr Bean to pop out from somewhere!

    - Car breaking meant that I got to spend some time with DD on an 'adventure' - we hopped on a bus and done the jobs for the day that way (I was very tired come the evening, but it was lovely to see her little face when she showed the driver the day tickets etc). The cost of the repairs is roughly what I have managed to squirrel away this month savings elsewhere, so whilst the savings account will decrease slightly, having savings meant that an emergency was turned into an inconvenience.

    - Went to the local farm yesterday to get some meat from the butcher (batch cooking will commence tonight/tomorrow). We got to see some animals (for free) and LO was a happy girly. We then went to the park (£2.20 spent on ice-cream as a treat for DD), the rest of the afternoon was spent in the garden enjoying the sunshine with a brew :D

    - We're loving the new carpet and it has made such a difference to the house. That's another job ticked off the list of jobs we wanted to get done this year.

    - Today has been an NSD and tomorrow will follow suit (let's face it, they're much needed :rotfl:).

    I have committed to take DD to the cinema next week to see Peter Rabbit. This will be covered by the child benefit savings and will be the last day trip of the easter holidays. We will eat out at Pizza Express afterwards and use the free pizza voucher I have to reduce the cost of meal out.

    Right, off to catch up on some diaries and have a nosey at some new ones to keep me motivated.

    Happy Saturday!

    Sounds like you've had some wonderful times with your DD this week :)

    Sorry to hear about the car situation but great that you have the savings to fall back on so it's not a disaster!

    Today has been another NSD. DD bought some new sand for her sandpit using money gifted to her by a relative, so whilst there was a purchase, it wasn't from our accounts.

    Last night was spent doing some batch cooking - I made a family sized chilli con carne and 5 portions of tomato and red pepper soup; which are now in the freezer.

    Tonight will be spent making some home made breaded chicken strips for the freezer. The usual weekly shop is due to be delivered tomorrow, so there will be a change to the accounts with that.

    I must find the mortgage account login to update our balance :think:

    Hi.

    Just dropping in with a daily update on financial wins;

    1. I hit the threshold for another £3 payout on SB, so have requested another Amazon Voucher.

    2. We have balanced the books and something we thought we may need to pay out for has not been needed, so we have swiped that money over to the savings account. This brings our total to £7839.91/£10,000 :money:

    3. Mortgage Paperwork found and balance is now £68,498.25

    Daily update to keep me on track;

    1. DD taken to cinema (inc lunch out & Car Parking) - total spend £20. Took own snacks and drinks.

    2. Actually got around to cancelling contact lens contract. I have also made sure that the Direct Debit was cancelled on internet banking. £18 p/m saved.

    3. We have cancelled the Now TV packages (x2) we had at a reduced price over winter, as we are not in the house as much now the weather is improving. Approx £9 p/m saved.

    4. Booked a free eye test with Boots after they sent me a voucher. According to their website, this is usually £25.

    5. Picked up a free MAM baby bottle and soother with a voucher from their Parenting Club. I also grabbed a free Boots magazine with my advantage card.

    Not quite an NSD, but there has been some money saving activity :money:

    Good Afternoon, just dropping in after a manic week to get my thoughts written down.

    DD2 has arrived early and so both the house and finances have been neglected. Over the next week or so I will sit down and get everything into some sort of order/up to date. The priority at the minute is to have some sort of routine in place for when OH goes back to work.

    The sheer generosity of family in terms of gifts and help has meant that we have had a lot of new items coming into the house, so while I am getting the house in order, I will also take the opportunity to take stock of what we have in the bathroom cabinet (have a bit of a stockpile going), clothing (clear out any items no longer needed and make a list of any items that need to be replaced) and whether there is anything that can be sold to go towards the savings pot.

    Lots to ponder and put into action.

    Bathroom cabinet has been organised (i'm living on the wild side! :rotfl:)

    We have plenty of stuff in there, the only thing we will need to re-stock is toothpaste.

    Some items will see us through until the end of the year - apparently I have Narnia for a bathroom cabinet :rotfl:

    Next job is to sort the kitchen cabinets and make them more user friendly - that's a job for next week now.
