Re Mortgage Help

Hi All - this is my first go at a forum so please be gentle with me
- I have a current mortgage deal expiring soon with a high street bank, I am fortunate that my loan to value needed is less than 35 % - £80k on property valued at £250kish - and have a term of 8-10 years max left that I want to pay it off. However I have approx £16k worth of unsecured credit card debt which I am paying off and is all currently on long term 0% interest over 4 cards - I don't want to add this to my mortgage but struggled to find a lender last time round to lend without consolidating it all onto mortgage so stayed with the bank though better deals about. How can I search /find/apply on line for a better product without ruining my credit score etc ? thanks very much in advance. PS have been a mortgage holder for over 20 years and never missed a payment or had a default - mortgage is in joint names though only on my wifes salary approx £34k - this is because I am self employed which rules out some lenders.

What is your current lender offering you? As the balance you owe on the mortgage reduces it makes the cost of remortgaging less and less economical.0

Being self employed does not rule out any lenders. However you do need to fit their criteria to include your income. Most say they will average out the last 2 years income assuming your income did not drop in year 2.
Most lenders will not have an issue with that amount of debt providing it passes affordability, you would need to go on to the lenders affordability calculators, punch in the numbers and check whether it comes out with enough or not, alternatively you can speak to a broker and have them do the research/application for you.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
