Endless Paypal 'spoofing'

Not sure if this is right place to ask this, please move it if not !
For the past several months I have had roughly 7 or 8 messages a week 'from Paypal' asking me to send details to unlock my account, or telling me that I have bought unlikely electronic gadgets for many dollars. I can always see that they are scams as they are mis spelt, with terrible grammar etc etc so I forward them to the Paypal spoof address. I have tried logging on properly to Paypal (which I use only very rarely) and asking them if they can help at all with this, but all I ever get back is a proforma message thanking me for helping them combat fraud. They come to my hotmail address. So: should I change my hotmail address (which I don't really want to) or close my Paypal account and start a new one as I do use it occasionally. I am very fed up with it, and now I seem also to be getting similar fake messages from itunes, though less frequently. Can anyone advise me please ?

Block anyone not in your Contacts...
Change Hotmail Address.
Better still, don't use Hotmail for email !Google is your friend.0 -
Change password on both Paypal and Hotmail, for a start. See if that does anything before you consider changing e-mail.0

We all get them, even people who don't have a PayPal account.
Just ignore them. PayPal will certainly be ignoring yours (after sending an auto reply).0 -
Do you mark them as spam?0

How is this going to stop incoming spoof emails ???
To the OP, closing your paypal account wont make the slightest bit of difference because these mesasges are not coming from paypal.
Just delete and ignore them and they will stop eventually.
As said above, are you marking these mails as Spam as that should reduce the amount received.0 -
Delete them and if you are in any doubt run an anti virus on your computer and then log into your account.
I would also as a number of other posts have said change email accounts.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -

What the others have said.
I will add this.
I don't see any of these sorts of email, I don't even think about them any more and I think the reason is that my email provider, Gmail, is picking them up as spam before I get to see them. I haven't had to mark something as spam for a while. Every so often I check the gmail spam folder to see if they've blocked anything they shouldn't have but they haven't done that for over a year. I then just block delete all the rubbish in there.
I have two friends who are constantly moaning about the amount of rubbish and spam that ends up in their inbox and, despite them constantly marking them as spam, they continue to get past the filters in one form or another.
Both of these people use hotmail.
My advice would be to dump your hotmail account asap and get a decent provider. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
^^ Amen to that ...0

I have also been getting spurious 'payment' emails alleging a payment from Paypal. I have, as is stated in other posts, mainly ignored them. I tried at one point to contact Paypal but it seems that without an account it is impossible to get in touch. Seems like a deterrent to open a paypal account as far as I can see.0
