Turbo Training Software

I recently purchased a Wahoo Kickr smart trainer which I've been using a lot recently due to weather and time issues.
It's a great piece of kit. I've done 227 miles on it this week, on free trial software from Zwift and Trainer Road.
Which is why I'm posting this. I've two months free with Zwift as a Strava mamber, and it seems to cover all the bases. Trainer Road seems geared to winter training, and has numerous training plans. Both of them will cost between £80 and £100 PA to subscribe to once the freebies run out.
Has anyone any experience of different smart trainer software - either free or subscription based - that they rate?

Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

Only Zwift on Tacx Neo. Does all I need.
Might be worth posting on a more cycle orientated forum.0 -
It really depends on what you want to get out of it and what your goals are? If you are training for something in particular I'd suggest trainer road, if it is just to get a few more structured miles in over the winter then Zwift.
I use Trainer road to keep/ improve my fitness over winter and to train for a Majorca trip in the spring. I am really enjoying the instructional training during the workouts as it helps to improve technique.
I think with Zwift the novelty would wear off after a while, unless you were into racing with other people.
There is also the Sufferfest videos which you can subscribe to for a monthly fee and will control your trainer for you like Trainer road and zwift.0 -
So I've decided for the moment to stick with Zwift. I've done 1900 miles on it in 2.5 months and it seems to offer everything I need. The structured training programme is good enough, and I can create my own workouts which is useful too.
I've tried one race, which I quite enjoyed - I think I came third, but it was hard to tell. I may do a few more as I get more used to the format and technique.
It also gives me my Functional Threshold Power FTP reading, which seems a bit high, given my veteran status.
There's no doubt the smart trainer and excellent affiliated apps make winter training much more enjoyable and safer too. You even get some decent scenery to enjoy!!Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -
Zwift is top of the tree at the moment, nothing else comes even close to it.0
