Not on the Electoral Roll - Is this affecting me?

Hi,
I recently found out I am not on the electoral register, and actually never have been. No one knows why. Ive never been able to get any sort of credit. I recently went to open a student bank account and they rejected me for that. Ive had no other bad credit.

Any ideas?

It does have an impact, we disappeared off the role last year apparently and that has complicated the remortgage we are doing. I know I did the form but I did it online last year and I reckon something went wrong not a happy bunny this end!
  • I think the fact that I'm not currently on the electoral roll is the reason I've been rejected for credit cards recently. I've made sure to fill in the form when it came round recently to get myself on it, so I'd suggest you do the same and see if that helps. It can't do any harm.

Yep. Your presence on the electoral/voters roll is a vital part of any credit check.

Your credit reference files normally have a separate section on 'electoral roll' data so it's easily flagged up if its not there, which will bring many/most credit checks to a screeching halt.

Get yourself listed as soon as you can.
