Hello and good luck with your journey. I like the idea of shopping list club EH lol :)

  • Wow EH, thanks for that amazing message. Has given me lots to think about.

Definitely using up all the food in house would be a good start, just need to convince my oh to eat it. The kids ar still small (1 and 2) so just eat what they're given, it just tends to be a lot earlier than us so seems easier to make different. Probably easier and cheaper to make the same and just reheat ours to eat a bit later.

I love the Fight club shopping list!! My oh and I are terrible for not snacking or having breakfast or lunch so by dinner are starving and just go for a quick fix. Doesn't help with the weight either.

So short term targets, based on this

Target 1: Dec 2016 food bill under £300 including Christmas
Target 2: lose half a stone by Christmas
  • So having been up since 4 can't decide what to do with the baby clothes and toys. I know I could eBay and they would probably sell, but not for a lot particularly factoring in postage and fees.

Giving them to charity appeals a lot more as they will go to people in need, but obviously this won't help with our debt. I think in this instance the small amount I would get versus the benefit they might give someone else means charity is the better option? However, I don't want to go with a charity shop as I would prefer they were given to those in need rather than sold. Any idea of anywhere that does this?

Today will be a SD need nappy cream and calpol. Littlest one had his MMR this week and is really struggling. Will need milk as well, we seem to get through an endless supply!!

Have your tried local facebook sellling groups? I've sold no end on there of my little boy's toys/clothes. Most people will collect, or i'll drop off for £1 or so extra depending on location.
Also, a good place for picking up toys for the little ones - got my little boy a huge postman pat bundle of toys, very good condition for £10! Far cheaper than buying new.

I tend to feed my little one on our leftovers the next day, rather than reheating our food later. As for giving clothes away, I know our local food bank does a bit of that. Or ask at your local children's centre, if you still have one.

  • Wow just had a look at your soa your insurances are high if they cant be tweaked is there no way too do anything with these:

    Oh phone £55.00
    My phone £50.00
    Sky £68.04

    173.04

I understand contracts etc but even if you could knock at third of that yours debts will be gone sooner. Sim only re the phones maybe
    debts 16550
    Mortgage 69500
  • Hey Huskyrunner,

Yep the life insurances are really high, but we had to try multiple companies before anyone would insure either of us and given the size of mortgage and ages of kids I don't really want to compromise there.

We are all locked into contracts. Will go SIM only when the end but sky is 12 months and both phones are about 14 months. Paying to leave early seems like throwing money away?
  • Yeah it is re paying too leave

You could donate some stuff to womens shelters, they will take toys and maybe clothes. You can sell bundles on facebook but I get sick of the ' I'll pay you half of what you're asking plus can you deliver because I'm too lazy to get off my @rse' posts....
    what about a car boot?
