Where do I go from here...

Hi,

I am currently being transferred with my Company to work in Sydney for a minimum of 4 years. The problem is that I have around 70k of unsecured debt which I can't afford to pay when I am there.

I am selling my home now which will clear my mortgage completely but I really don't know what my options are regarding the unsec debt.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Steve

Will you be getting some form of expat extra on top of your pay that you can use to pay off your debt? Will your pay be put into your UK account, so that your debts can continue to be paid?
Other than that might be worth giving CCCS or Payplan a call to see if they have dealt with this type of thing before

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Why are you selling your house? If you are going to Oz for a set number of years you would be better to rent the house out as it would be extremely difficult to get back onto the property ladder when you get back. You can put the rental in the hands of a management firm and they will deal with everything while you are away. Think about the worst case scenario where you go to Oz, hate it or get ill, etc, etc and have to come back to the UK - where will you live?
