Help with shoosmiths

Hi,
We have some credit cards from a while back, through unemployment we had been paying token payments for a few years. I have been paying them regularly but they have not been on official arrangements as such. My husband recently received a claim for ccj, we do owe the debt and I did not realise which account it was for, so had to track back quite a bit to find it. So last week we sent our offer in. At the same time because I was worried this had happened because our "arrangements" had lapsed, I wrote to all of my creditors to update financial info and set new arrangements. Most have been fine and just agreed new payment arrangements which was fine. Shoosmiths have written back to say they will only accept my proposed payment on the understanding they can get a ccj and a charge against the house? If I hadn't written to them, they haven't been in touch for months, what should I do. The balance is relatively small and I could probably pay it off when I get a small inheritance but I won't get the money until January/February. I'd rather not have another ccj, but I guess once you have one you may has well have 2? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have to reply within 10 days.

Hi,
Unfortunately they may not hold any further action until your inheritance comes through, you can write and tell them your willing to pay it off early next year, see what reaction you get.
They will decide if it's cost effective taking you through the court process or not.
If your lucky, with the Christmas period coming up, they may hold off for now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
