They didn't tell me to ring the Samaritans

Hi chipbeck, I think the online system tends to do that a lot, because it's trying to work out how you much you can afford to pay if you were to go onto a dmp. And obviously, if there ISN'T any money available to pay towards your debts, it sort of comes unstuck.
But honestly, you don't need the samaritans, every debt problem has a solution, which can be anything from tightening your belt a bit to bankruptcy, and a whole world of other stuff in between. Do think about posting your SOA and then we will have a much better idea of how we can help."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Thanks Snaggles I'll get on e done tonight. It's just I have a typical blinkered approach and always have done. I was feeling happy and proud of myself and expected the CCCS to tell me that I would be able to pay people off over a longer period or get some interest cut down or something. To be honest it was a waste of time as they are telling me they can't help me cos I'm in debt......... which is why I went there in the first place.0

Last one for today as I'm peed off again.
Does anyone know if I can ring my creditors directly and try to come to some agreement with them regarding term or rate.0 -
Well, I think that would be called managing your own dmp, but if you've really got £600.00 more going out on essentials than you have coming in, then what do you think you can offer to pay your debtors with??????????Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

You could do what I did which to be honest is much more flexible.
Go to another website  the national debthelpline website I personally would request they post you an information pack because it is huge and read it online for now.
First thing you need to do is make sure you have a bank account not connected to any of the debts you have as they can take money out without your permission this is industry standard!
Next use the template letters and ask them to freeze interest, request balance etc to work out a payment plan. This gives you 28 days breathing space basically to make sure your account is up and running etc.
Then you would use the payment calculator balance sheet thing on there can't remember what they call it to send out offers of payments. Now very few will accept straight away so don't panic we are all here for you.
Also personally I would if you are doing a self managed DMP change your phone number you can tell family you were getting weird calls that way you deal with your post when you want to rather than answering calls at all hours of the day.
No whether you want to follow advice of someone who gets her £1 and £1k mixed up thats up to you lol - but seriiously loads of people on here who can help!0 -
Might help you as well to post your incomings and outgoings including everything as this will help you budget and see where you can cut things to make token payments to your creditors but don't worry you just need a little more time to work out what to do!0

Hi there,
Big hug for you. Have you tried CAB or debtplan and have you actually had a proper session with CCCS? The usual advice they give is to make token payment while the sorting is done I think but am unsure 100%. Just wanted to send a hug, give a bump & suggest you post your full SOA so people can get a full picture if you feel comfortable doing that...Do you have a house - ie any equity if you were to sell up? Sorry not sure of your circumstances so hard to give any useful info but just wanted to say I was thinking of you!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Cheers everyone just having a think about Lloyds knocking back all my dds and charging me £700 for the privilege. I'm a pillock but I find the banks are downright heartless.0

Welcome Chipbeck, I also have more going out than coming in, and don't want to further bu***r my credit rating, so have chosen to reduce my outgoings as much as is comfortable. I am also working on increasing my income. As soon as it balances out, I am usimg the snowball calculator to reduce most expensive debt first. I am hoping this approach "pays off". But i am interested in your approach opf writing and doing your own DMP. Does it still go against your credit rating?unsecured Debts at [strike]August 2007 £79,984[/strike] September £79,579 [STRIKE]Snowballing date July 2013[/STRIKE].
May 2009, £76,772 unsecured debts
