Christmas Markets: which do you rate?

Leeds is good as is Edinburgh. Glasgow's is pants, they could do so much more with it.
My favourite was a holiday in Gothenburg and we went to a christmas market inside an amusement park in the city, it was gorgeous.0 -
Rochester is nice with its cobbled high street and ambience. First weekend in December is festive with lots of street theatre mainly Dickens based ......and with a little help it always snows during the parade.
You can catch a service in the cathedral too and there's lots of street food.
Train station is really close so if you don't drive or don't want the hassle of parking it's ideal.
We are toying with going to Bath as we have a couple of days booked in Devon already and thought about adding a night on in Bath enroute.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I've never enjoyed the Edinburgh market, over priced and very little there that you can't get in the shops, my grandbrats liked the small amount of shows that were there but that's about it.0

Not technically a Christmas market I suppose, but we love visiting Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park.
There are lots of little stalls selling Christmas wares, lots of sweets and more food than you can shake a stick at.
There are also lots of attractions and rides to go on.0 -
I love the Brum one- however whenever I've been it's always been rammed! My tip would be to go when it's raining- just remember to take an umbrella0

Lincoln has always been very atmospheric, being in the Bailgate area of the city, with the Castle and Cathedral. The one way system has mixed views - but it has to better than one year before they changed it.....nightmare!
However, when we go (most years) - we do so around 7pm, so you get a couple of hours to look around, without freezing, and without the crowds of the daytime.
First stops are always the Gluwhein stall and the Bratwurst stall :rotfl:0 -
I went to Birmingham this weekend. It was crazy busy and apart from the odd gem, many of the stalls were very repetitive with the goods they had on sale. The beer is expensive and you have to queue for ages to get your drinks and then for ages again to get the deposits back for returning the glasses.
I think next year I'll do London again. The stalls there were a bit more varied.0 -
The Manchester markets are beautiful and festive and everything, but it's hard to enjoy them when you can't actually move because there are that many people! It's difficult to look around on the stalls properly because it's too busy.0

It's ok if you go at 10am. By 1pm though, they are packed. I love the Manchester Christmas Market. x0 -
I went to Birmingham today- to be honest I spent more time in the shops in the Bullring! I did have a yummy Bratwurst from a stall but I wasn't much impressed with the stalls. I use a wheeled walker which is quite big and bulky and was fed up with not being able to get through the crowds so gave up in the end.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
